Your carbon footprint is how much greenhouse gases are produced due to your lifestyle. The United States has one of the largest carbon footprints in the world at 16 tons per person. If we reduce our carbon footprints, we could stop and reverse climate change. But only if we work together.
How do I reduce my carbon footprint?
Recycle wherever you can! Recycling is the single best strategy to reduce your carbon footprint. By recycling, you are saving what you are recycling from decomposing in a landfill. You are also saving that much more material from being manufactured. Switching to renewable forms of energy is also a great thing to do. Though being expensive upfront, making the switch to renewable forms of energy can reduce almost half of your carbon footprint. Driving less is another way to reduce your carbon footprint. Instead of driving, try walking or biking to where you need to go. If walking and biking is an issue due to lengthy commutes, investing in an EV might be more of your cup of tea. EVs don’t produce any greenhouse gases and [Tesla’s] are super safe. Find out more about EVs here. If you are unable to switch to renewable energy forms, consider limiting the amount of electricity you consume. The less energy that you use, the less the power plant has to generate. And the less it has to generate, the less greenhouse gases it produces. And, finally, the less greenhouse gases are produced, the smaller your carbon footprint is.
Why should I care about reducing my carbon footprint?
Because Climate change is real and it affects all of us. And we must act now if we even want a chance in stopping it. It’s sad that some people don’t care about their carbon footprint. Eventually, if no one cares about their own carbon footprint, the Earth will become so hot that it will become inhabitable and become just like Venus. This should be avoided at all costs! We should all be aware of our own carbon footprints because our actions that contribute to enlarging our carbon footprint also make climate change happen much faster. If we all work together, we can stop climate change in its tracks and reverse the effects it has on our only home (for now). Maybe now you’re convinced that now is the time to change for climate change!
